Recently, the results of Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) research were published on the top 10 most popular car manufacturers in the US and showed the real dominance of domestic automakers.
The APEAL study is a survey that measures owners’ enjoyment of their vehicle and the model’s response to customer expectations.
According to J.D. Power, it is important for manufacturers to issue quality because deciding to buy a car is not only a big investment but also an emotional factor. The study was conducted with 37 criteria from seats, design… to their feeling when accelerating and the luxurious feeling of the cabin. This is the combined result of 87,282 feedback from owners after 90 days of car ownership.
Hyundai ranks 10th in the list of most loved car brands. Although it does not perform well on this list, it is the brand that has received numerous awards in other categories so far.
The ranking results here already include the company’s sub-brands like Genesis and Kia. The models that won top honors in their respective segments were the Hyundai Sonata, Veloster, Kia Stinger, Telluride and Genesis G70.
The next manufacturer on the list is Honda. Although the Japanese automaker did not win the biggest awards, with the Odyssey, Honda received a version level award for the second year in a row.
Honda’s high level of reliability has always helped them “retain” customers but what makes the models more appealing can be attributed to the cabin layout with lots of modern technology and premium materials.
The 6th, 7th and 8th positions in this year’s list of the most favorite manufacturers is the “balanced” battle of the trio Nissan, Mazda and Kia. Thanks to a strong start to 2020, Nissan has received favors from its customers and the main reason can be attributed to its new design language and more upscale cabin layout.
In addition, Nissan is among the most awarded manufacturers with 4 model level awards. This figure is equal to BMW and second only to Hyundai.
Mazda has made a big move in the market this year, and that’s evident in APEAL’s research. This year’s results are an impressive number for Mazda. Compared to 2019, the Japanese manufacturer has increased by 9 places.
At 8th place, Kia with an active year has contributed a lot to the record number of awards of the Hyundai Motor Group. Although tied with Mazda and Nissan, Kia was the top brand in JD power’s Initial Quality Study last month. Coincidentally, though, it’s also tied with Dodge for first place.
The small car brand produced by the British Automobile Group has been overhauled by BMW and affirmed its position as a “cultural icon”.
Although the Mini is no longer the same as the “Previous Mini”, the increase in size may be one of the main reasons for its appeal as it now offers a comfortable space and size. more roof with many new and interesting features. Fifth place with 853 points for a luxury brand clearly shows that customers love them.
The fourth place belongs to the car manufacturer from the United States. Despite the high rankings, this is still an impressive result for Ford when the F-150 is the most popular pickup model in North America.
General Motors’ luxury sub-brand ranked third in the APEAL study with 857 points, eight places higher than its sibling, Chevrolet. In the initial quality study conducted last month, GMC placed 8th overall.
In second place is another well-known North American pickup brand – Ram also comes in third in the original quality study. The special thing is that the brand with products that are trucks and pickups can surpass even Ford in terms of popularity; This is truly a result to be proud of. And that speaks for all the great experiences it brings to the customers.
It may sound strange, but it’s not surprising that Dodge tops the list of customer favorites. With models like the Charger, Challenger or their Hellcat versions in its lineup, Dodge has established itself as a promising brand.
Plus, it’s the only mass-market brand other than Hyundai to win both the APEAL and IQS titles in the same year, and the only American brand to do so.
